My Amish Friends 15 year old daughter got the teaching job for this Fall…15 years old, one room school, most grades represented. Of coarse they do not have computers….do you can anything I can pass on to her to assist in her first year of teaching. Lois

I am a first year teacher that has one semester under his belt. I know everyone says that it gets easyer….believe it because it is true. My first semester I had major anxiety to the point where it was crippling. By the end of the semester I was better. The true problem with teaching is that we are use to being good at what we do and teachers college does not prepair you for the reality of teaching. As soon as you cut yourself some slack things get way better.

The question is, how do new teachers handle their first year deling with al the standardization of exit exams. How does the inductive method help. thanks, DB

Thank you for the advice. I teach 8th grade special ed., and besides the fact that there is much planning for teaching, there is also the extra stress of preparing for IEP meetings and tracking students’ IEP goals quarterly. I love teaching, but not all of the legal stuff and details that go with it. Every week is a struggle, but I think I can get through it.

This was helpful. I am experiencing high amounts of anxiety to the degree that I want to quit my job. I want to work through it, so I am just taking each day as it comes.
